The AXIOM drainages are coated on both the exterior and the interior with CLOT STOP, a hydrophillic coating with PVP (polyvinylpyrrolidone)

CLOT STOP has an antithrombogenic effect because platelets cannot adhere to the ultra-slick surface. This means blood clots are unable to attach to the surface of the drain and therefore cannot obstruct the drainage eyes or the internal lumen of the drain. The AXIOM drains are coated on both the exterior and the interior.

CLOT STOP prevents tissue encrustation, blood clot formation, and enhances easy removal. The internal coating allows fluids to be swept away rapidly, assuring that the drain remains patent during usage.
